June 8 is World Ocean Day! This year’s theme, “Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean” is especially meaningful to Conservation Nation as we aim to bring diverse conservationists together to creatively solve Earth’s most pressing challenges.
For World Ocean Day, we’re highlighting work by three of our Youth Advisors. Anna Rose, Harry, and Kennedy are passionate about conservation and the arts. They hope to inspire your curiosity and care for our marine environments.
A special thanks to our grantee Nova West for mentoring our Youth Advisors during the creation of their pieces!
My painting depicts the negative effects of microplastics on ocean ecosystems and ourselves. This dangerous reality should be a wake-up call to all of us! If you won’t take action for the Earth’s health, do it for your own.
Anna Rose is a youth advisor who is heading to Stanford next fall to study human biology.
I hope that by inspiring passion and curiosity in other people for the ocean, more people will care about marine conservation.
Harry is an aspiring marine biologist with a fascination for cephalopods.
I'm a young eclectic artist. I love to listen to music, watch thriller movies, create new things, read books, and look at horoscopes at 2 o'clock in the morning. Don’t forget the spending choices you make affect our oceans!
Kennedy is a high school senior from Maryland and is passionate about animals and the intersection of art and social justice.
The Youth Advisory Council represents the youth voice in Conservation Nation’s decision-making processes for education, outreach, and communications. The Youth Council also acts as student ambassadors for Conservation Nation, helping to inspire diverse current and future conservationists to join our movement to save wildlife and the planet.
